Unless you are looking for some very particular articles like cameras or computers which would be cheaper in Bangkok, almost every thing else is cheaper here even handicraft or craftsmen's products may be cheaper or at least not more expensive than in Chiang Mai. Why? Because the competition between the different shops... and because Pattaya start to be the commercial center for the whole Eastern-Board. This means that shopping centers, markets and most of the shops are less interested to catch tourists than locals. Pattaya as also a lot of Europeans, Australians and Americans residents who know the prices. . So learn your lesson: If you plan to come and spend your holidays in Pattaya bring with you only the strict minimum: your tooth brush, razor and the medicines prescribed by your physician and a mosquitoes repellent. The best one and only one really effective is Jaico.
